US OLYMPIC SWIM TEAM COMMITTEE:

I would just like to make a comment. I know that Michael Phelps is the greatest swimmer of all time. BUT..... he would not have one of his gold metals if it were not for the heroic effort by one of his team mates Jason Lezak and then there would have been no heritage of having more golds than anyone else ever...... One of the greatest feats in the entire Olympics was made by Jason Lezak in that final leg of the 4X100 race and there is almost no mention of him or what he accomplished except this small head line:

http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2008/olympics/2008/08/10/phelps.usa.relay.ap/index.html?eref=si_topstories

Lezak, the oldest man on the U.S. swimming team, pulled off one of the great comebacks in Olympic history Monday morning, hitting the wall just ahead of Bernard in the 400 freestyle relay, a race so fast it actually erased two world records.

How sad that Jason is a great part of the history making of Michael Phelps but few will remember and because of very little media coverage of that heroic final effort he will not be remember. BUT I WILL REMEMBER!!!! THAT ONE EVENT MORE THAN ANYTHING MICHAEL PHELPS ACCOMPLISHED. Jason Lezak is my hero not Michael Phelps. He is the one who went the extra mile to get that gold. He is the one who extended himself beyond his normal strength to make sure the legacy of Michael Phelps was not lost. With out that effort the great Michael Phelps would not be so great today....

PS I don’t know how to contact Jason Lezak but I hope you will pass this on to him so he knows that at least one person in all the world recognizes what he accomplished and will remember all the rest of my life!
