The subscribers to this newsletter are mostly people who either have a home business or are trying to start one. One of the things Robert Allen teaches all of us to do is to have "MULTIPLE STREAMS OF INCOME". As a result of that many have expanded their business interests to become involved in a Multiple Level Marketing company. A few that I know of are USANA, YOUNG LIVING ESSENTIAL OILS, AMWAY, NIKKIN, ROYAL BODY CARE, NU SKIN, and IONYX. Because we have so many subscribers who are now in a MLM businesses, I thought it would be appropriate to include an article from one of our fellow subscribers on the subject. Here it is:
Increasing Your Chances Of Success
By Jim Vail
You know, I've been thinking a lot about what is happening when I show a business presentation to a prospect. How is it that I can say the same thing as my more experienced up line, and have less success? Well, I've come up with a few keys.
1) Confidence - this is multifaceted. Not only do you have to have confidence in your product and your compensation plan, but you HAVE TO have confidence in yourself! Your prospect doesn't get to see USANA, NU SKIN, AMWAY, etc., they get to see YOU! You are not a multilevel company; you are a business owner affiliated with a network marketing compensation plan. Show some confidence in your own business! Also, if you are unsure of what you are saying, then your prospect will pick up on the emotion. Unfortunately, it's not clear to the prospect what you are feeling. For example, if you are just really nervous, and start to exhibit negative body language (little eye contact, stumbling over your words, etc), your prospect may think you are not being honest or that you are simply not educated enough to inform. The simplest way for me to get over this is to say in the beginning, "Look, I'm really nervous about talking to you, and if I start to lose track, I'm sorry. I'm just not an expert at talking to people." Now, what have I done? First, I have been very HONEST. The key to salesmanship and success! Second, I have established that we are on the same team. I'm not out to get them. Finally, I have set up a segue into overcoming an objection: "I just can't talk to people." Now I have already told them that I'm not very good with people, either, but I'm learning through practice. Which brings me to:
2) Practice - One member of my support team once said something to the effect of, "if you want to see what makes a millionaire so successful , compare calendars with him." It's so true! He who works hardest (intelligently) will earn the greatest rewards. Go to your up line and compare calendars (or date books). If you are not where you want to be with your business, you probably need to get out and talk to more people. As you increase your activity level, you gain experience, and gain confidence.
3) Learn to think. Do you know that common sense is not common? The key to learning how to think like a millionaire is to surround yourself with millionaires as often as possible. Go to training. Call your up line. You will emulate your peers no matter what, so why not choose to have good peers? Network marketing is not the most popular peer group in the world today, but doing the right thing isn't always easy or popular, is it? Just ask yourself: Do you want what your negative prospects have, or do you want what your positive, wealthy up line has? It's one of those no-brainers!
4) Get help from up line support team! This is the vitality of networking. We all grow together, helping one another and learning to be our best self. It's the old minefield parable: your up line has been through the field and knows where the mines were, and where they weren't. Now they can help you get through easier. Let them!
5) Luck. Finally, the last thing you need to recognize in your life is luck. Or, more appropriately, the lack of it. I firmly believe that there is nothing that happens that you cannot have a controlling hand in. Do you look at some of your successful up line and wonder how they get so lucky to talk to 50 people every month? It's not luck! They just work hard. Do you wonder why some people are in the right place at the right time, and are able to capitalize on an opportunity? Again, it's not luck! These people are just thinking successfully, and taking action. Learn to make a quick decision and stick to it. One last thought on luck: we are all very lucky! We live in a country where we can choose to pursue our happiness, and this gives us the chance to own our own business, and master our future. Take a good look at other countries where the people do not have freedom such as ours to pursue their dreams. We are very lucky.
I hope this can help someone who is struggling like I was. For me, the key to success is to increase your activity level, and work smart. Good luck to all of you who have -EARNED- it!
