Five Priority Words

We often set out to do things in our life that create great change for us. It can be a frustrating task if it causes conflict in our decision making process. If it causes us to get mixed up our priorities in life, it can even be disastrous. We all want to be sure we are right. We all want to do what is right. Sometimes one thing in our life can get in the way of another thing. This can cause us to be in a position where we have to start making decisions where there seems to be no right answer.

     For example:

Have you ever had to chose between your family and your work. That is a tough decision. Do you stay to that important meeting at work or go home and go with your son or daughter to their ball game that they are playing in. Which is right?

Have you ever been caught in a situation where you felt you had to tell a little white lie so you would not be humiliated or look dumb if the truth were known. You know you should always tell the truth but in this case it did not seem "that bad".

Have you ever been in debt so far that the stress started to strain your marriage relationship. You just had to buy those things so you charged them, and now paying for them starts to put a real burden on your family finances.

Have you are tempted to take a job that will cause you to be gone from home a lot but will pay you much more money? Is your family more important than your job? Is having a loving relationship with your kids by being able to spend quality and quantity time with to help them build their emotional well being a higher priority in your life than having money to buy them things? If you have to quit your job and take a 50% cut in pay so you can be together as a family, is it worth it?

If you work so long and so hard that you make a million dollars but then have a heart attack from the stress and lose your health, what good is the money from a hospital bed?

If you are tempted by friends to do things that you know will violate your faith in God and the standards you have set for you and your family should you do it? Is your faith in God is more important than your friends. If you faith in God is destroyed by your actions, of what good are you to your family or your friends?

We could make lists and lists and lists of decisions of this nature. We would each have a list as long as any one else. The main question here is how can we make the right choice when we are in such situations where priorities are involved?

I would like to propose five priority words to you that can help you in every decision making situation, if you will apply them in the order they are listed. Here they are:

FAITH
FAMILY
FRIENDS
FITNESS
FINANCES

Remember the order these words are listed in. If you are about to do something where you seem to be violating one of these priority areas of your life to satisfy another, just don't do it.

Can you see how these 5 priority words can help you find joy and true happiness if you always make decisions based on these five priority words in the order they are listed? Let them rule your life. They will help you be what you know you should be. They will help you do what you know you should do. They will guide you in your every decision to be the best that you can be.
