EXCELLENCE - What is holding us back?

I still constantly have people telling me that they just can not set goals. It is too hard for them. It just does not work. As I have talked with them and thought about their answers I think I have figured out a key element that is holding them back.

You Have To Be Going Somewhere To Get There!!!!

Does that sound too simple to be realistic? When you read books like Think And Grow Rich, one of the main messages is that you have to want something so bad that you have great determination to go after it.

As I have talked to these people who are having trouble setting goals, that is the one common element that I see. They do not seem to have a "Life's Purpose". They are not trying to become something. There is not any one thing that they really want to have that they do not now have. They are not working hard every day like an Olympic Athlete to accomplish something. They are not looking for anything. They do not have any "PASSION" that they are seeking to fulfill.

I have observed that these people who are having trouble setting goals normally have a pretty good job, average pay, nice life.... why bother to change. I can tell that for them, it hurts to change. It takes effort. It is easier to just keep on keeping on.

Sometimes to get somewhere we have have troubles to overcome. We need something that makes us get "DESPERATE". We have all heard it said that problems are just opportunities given to us to help us grow. When things finally get so bad we just can not stand it any more then we do something about it. So, if it never gets so bad we can not stand it, we never do anything about it. We just keep putting one foot in front of the other and taking it as it comes.

If you want to be an achiever, you have to set your sights on something that you want and then make a plan to get it.

If you do not have anything that you want, you will probably be having trouble setting goals. Did you ever hear that if you are not going anywhere any road will take you there.

If you are having trouble setting and keeping goals, maybe that is the place to start in your life. Start to think about "EXCELLENCE". Being the best of the best at something. If you have something that you want, then you can set a plan and go after it. If what you want is to not change and stay the same, then you probably will be very successful at that too. Do you like what you are? Do you like where you are? Or do you have the courage to go for something bigger and better?

What is your "Lifes Purpose". Will the world be better because of you when you die? Do you ever think about that? I challenge you to pick something in your life and become an expert at it. EXCELLENCE.... that is a very rewarding word!

May we all take Dr. Dennis Waitley challenge to make the next 90 days in our lives "a winning season"
