After I read the comments on that new video game coming out I went to the KOMO 4 news web site and did some interesting research. At first they said over a million copies had been sold, but that was incorrect. The game was actually first released in October of this year and before it hit the store shelves over 4 million copies had been reserved!!!!!!! Now that December is here over 6 million have sold and they are projecting over 10 million to sell very soon. They also said a common blockbuster movie will open and if it's really good will make 20-30 million in it's first month, but that game grand theft Auto Vice city made 160 million before it even hit the shelves in October. They are projecting net sales of over 420 million before the smoke is clear and they make the next installment of the game!!!! To give you an idea of what that means, the movie Star Wars which was one of the biggest blockbuster movies of all time only made 430 million!!!!!!
Tell you what, we could write the company that made the game and tell them to stop making such games, and they would reply: Yeah right, why would we stop making video games that make as much or more money as many of the biggest blockbuster movies in Hollywood!!!!! They certainly wouldn't make it if foolish people weren't absolutely crazy about it!!!
Now to cover themselves legally, the game making company Acclaim Corp. said they put ratings on the games so kids won't get it. So people went out and did a survey to test this out. They waited at stores where they saw parents buying games and asked them: Do you know what E, T, and M mean on the game box. And to the people who did the surveys great surprise, very few of the parents even noticed the ratings. Many parents said: "Well I was just buying what my son wanted me to buy him, I never ask what's in the game, I didn't know the letter M on the box meant for mature gamers only"!!!!
These same people also did a "game sting" similar to the ones they do when people sell alcohol to minors. They sent young boys in to buy this game and several of the store clerks didn't even try to stop them from buying the game!!!
And one more thing, I went to Ebay and found that there are people selling this game, and you don't have to give your age for any item on ebay, just your credit card!!!
Well any way, that is the research I did today. Didn't it use to be bad to rob, murder, rape, destroy, Etc? Perhaps we are seeing the day foretold that good would be called bad and bad would be called good!!!!
